Knowledge transfer: from research project to field and supply-chain decisions

Agriculture improves when knowledge moves between people who see the same problem from different positions. Researchers can explain measurement, growers can expose field constraints, buyers can define supply-chain requirements, and public kitchens can show the friction of ordering and continuity.

A good solution has little system value if it never transfers

A technical visit, demonstration day or supplier meeting is useful only when it creates a better question, decision or documented change in practice. This page therefore records activities where the link to production, logistics or procurement is clear.

What the project addresses

1

Kumer 1687 participated in the April 2025 regional Food4CE meeting for public-food organisers and local suppliers in Hoče

2

the April 2026 PRIRAST study visit to Italy covered specialised leafy-vegetable production, Macfrut and seedling-production technology

3

exchange between researchers, growers and equipment providers

4

bringing lessons on logistics, packaging, cold chain and continuity back into operations

Kumer 1687 in practice

We do not ask only whether a technology is impressive. We ask whether it fits our crops, Ptujsko–Ormoško polje conditions, scale, labour, harvesting method, packing line and delivery rhythm. A technology from a much larger Italian operation may be unsuitable as a whole, yet still contain a principle worth adapting.

Wider value

More resilient production

Useful knowledge can reduce seasonal variability when heat or water become limiting.

Better resource decisions

Measurement supports targeted choices rather than simply adding more inputs.

Transfer to practice

A farm reveals labour, machinery, timing and cost constraints that a small trial may hide.

Value beyond one farm

Documented lessons can help other growers, advisers and buyers ask better questions.

Why this matters

For international buyers, this shows that Kumer treats harvesting, cooling, packing, ordering and delivery timing as one connected quality system rather than isolated steps.
